The Ghost

There are no cemeteries where I used to live in Thailand, but one such entity came a knockin’ one night and even begged me for food.

I had a small modern farm in a rural area in the north of Thailand, and my wife’s mother is Thai (my wife is half-European and half-Thai) – and she used to leave cooked pigeons/chickens/ducks and fruits outside the main gate of our farm – to appease so-called wandering spirits or ghosts – but every now and then, hungry scavengers – both humans, insects, animals and the like, will help themselves to the feasts, and indulge in the fresh or rotten carcasses and fruity delights that were our offerings.

As a European-Jew, I naturally believe in Good vs Evil, and in G_ D and Satan – and in the occult, the kabbalah and such – and in this life time, I had lived strange experiences way beyond my imagination.

One cold rainy night, I awoke, warm, cos’ I had sweated a lot, as I had a most scary nightmare.

The Asiatic Mongrel dogs that I kept at my farm made very good guard dogs, and they were barking and even howling a great deal that same night, and I had awaken to investigate their case.

I saw a somewhat short Asian woman outside my main gate, and she was hungrily devouring the offerings that my wife’s mother (and my farm hands) had always placed outside our gate, as offerings to appease so-called wandering spirits or ghosts, and Thais and Asians are much more superstitious than Europeans.

I didn’t do a darn thing as usual, as I was quite sure that she was an illegal immigrant from Burma, Laos or Cambodia gone hungry, as we often see these poor souls, infiltrating the Thai border in search of a better life in Thailand – or looking for loved ones, relatives or friends living along the border areas on the Thai side.

The next night, I awoke again to the same relentless barking and howling my guard dogs had made, and this time, my farm hands had not placed any offerings outside my main gate.

Note: My wife and her mother ran a small business in another town, and they only lived at our farm from time to time – but my wife’s mother have always instructed my farm hands to place these offerings every now and then, as our farm is located at an isolated and rural area, near many rice fields.

This same entity had begged me to come, and out of sheer human sympathy and compassion, and my dogs at their fiercest display of aggression like never before, I had taken the risk to actually approach her at our gate, and she had begged me for more food.

I had instructed one of my farm hands to bring some food to this poor pale-looking soul, who did not appear quite human close-up, and I have never seen a more pitiful looking soul than her before.

My Thai farm hands told me that she’s a ghost, as she cast no shadow at all, and they could also feel the strange feeling we all call fear, though this poor tortured and tormented soul really meant us no harm.

This hungry ghost had only wanted some food or offerings, and she had meant us no harm, and I did not see her again after this chance, and know naught why she had appeared in my life story, as if to warn me of some dreadful events that would soon befall me in my life time.

She even told me so.

One of my Thai farm hands even believed she could be a Maenak in disguise (read enclosed articles) – but I thought naught; she was only a ghost, and a poor hungry ghost, that’s all.

Facts: About a year and a half later, I was attacked and almost murdered in Singapore in 1993, and then twice again in Thailand in 1993/1995, pursued by brutal and cruel, wicked and evil men that are much more worse than wandering ghosts – those poor tortured and tormented souls, stuck in oblivion and in between time – and about a decade later, they even murdered my late-aba in Singapore in 2003, only because they wanted and coveted the enormous wealth and assets that we have had in wretched and evil Singapore.

What is much worse!?

Evil men (and women) – or ghosts?

Must Read:

Of Hantus n Teteks!

Frankly, I have never encountered such an entity as “hantu tetek” – but I do believe in the supernatural, the paranormal, the unknown, the unexplored and the unexplained.

Cos’ I had encountered the Thai version of the Pontianak known as the Maenak a long time ago.

I was driving home to my small modern farm in the north of Thailand, and along the way, I had spotted an entity walking along the side of the road in the dark, at night.

There are no street lights or the like, and sure as hell, there she was, walking slowly with her back towards me, and only turning her head to glance at me when my vehicle passed her by slowly.

I know the area well, and who the hell would walk in the middle of the night (especially the feline species – what are we talking about? – I mean is it normal for a woman to walk alone at night wearing white, with very long hair, and no make-up effects necessary!?) – in the extreme dark, when visibility is so poor on such isolated and long dirt roads, one can’t help but only drive very slowly?

I mean is this woman out in the middle of the night for some fresh air – or willing, wanting and waiting to get fresh with someone or lots of someone(s) in the flesh?

It is simple logic and common sense, and no male prejudice is involved, rest assured – as the issue here is really clear and obvious – do ghosts, spirits and demons really exist?

I believe they do!

Cos’ G_D exist – and so does Satan.

Do read my post below:

As a Mat Salleh who used to live in wretched Singapore - and like my late-aba, I was skeptical about such Pontianak stories, until my late-aba told me this one:

He used to know a Bomoh, who has a beautiful Malay wife, and she has a nail embedded on the top of her head, and he had even shown this to my late-aba.

My late-aba had bought a piece of land at Bukit Timah seven-and-a-half-kilometres in the 1950s, and had built a wooden house and a barn on it, and had planted many fruit trees, including banana trees, and he had also laid some vegetable lots and chicken pens.

On many nights, my late-aba had heard the laughter, cries and shrieks of a Pontianak, that dwell in the forested areas of Bukit Timah, and this Pontianak was attracted to the banana trees that he had planted, and had visited this area near his wooden house, and after he had encountered "IT" on several occasions, my late-aba had engaged this same Bomoh to "cleanse" his residential property in Singapore.

During the rituals conducted by this Bomoh, the Pontianak had laughed and cried out these words, which had always haunted my late-aba when he was alive - Bomoh, Bomoh, Saya tak takut lah! - that was repeated several times until the Bomoh used his "barang-barang" to fight this Pontianak.

My late-aba had continued to encounter this Pontianak after this "successful ritual" - but this time, whenever my late-aba encountered "IT" - this Pontianak will cry and murmur these words in fear - "Encik, Encik, - Tolong, Tolong, Saya takut lah!"

The Bomoh had given my late-aba several weapons as a precaution after the ritual, just in case "IT" appears again - and these are a kris, a long nail that has an amulet on it, and blessed salt, dried chilli and dried black pepper seeds (that are replenished from time to time by the Bomoh) that are used to sprinkle around our residential property at Bukit Timah.

And one more thing, I had also encountered a Thai version of the Pontianak known as a "Maenak" a long time ago - when I had also built a small modern farm in a rural area in northern Thailand.

So what really are these - Pontianaks, Maenaks, Tianaks, Kuntilanaks!?

Are they spirits, ghosts or demons!?
