Ghost Imitate My Husband
Thanks to Jenny for submitting this story
One night I couldn’t sleep, so I decided to stay up and wait for my husband to come home from work (he had to work late that week) it was about 2am, and I heard a car pull in, my bed is right under the window, then I heard the car door open and shut, and walking up the sidewalk, the screen door make it awful screeching, and the lock pop open on the handle of the door, then I heard walking across the hard wood floor into the kitchen…
Then I heard nothing else, I thought I would sneak down the stairs and surprise my husband. So I quietly walked down the stairs, and peeked over the banister, he was not in the living room, so I quick walked over to the kitchen door and peeked in, and he was not there…well we have a small bathroom connected to our kitchen and the door was closed, which I never close, so I figured he was in there, so I knocked very softly, trying to scare him, but he didn’t answer, so I knocked harder, and still no answer, so I opened the door, and to my surprise he was not in there! I couldn’t figure out why the door was closed, but I decided he must be in the basement, which I hate!! And I usually go down there only to do laundry, and only in the daytime…I always have a icky feeling down there. Anyways, I snuck down the stairs and again, no one there. Well I was extremely scared so I hauled my butt all the way back up to my bedroom, looked out the window, and my husband car was NOT there…I know what I heard, I heard EVERYTHING very clearly.
I called him at work in tears and asked him to come home…when he got home, I heard all the same exact sounds that I heard the first time, but this time I checked out the window before I went downstairs. This has happened to me a couple of more times since then, I always check out the window first.
I’ve actually heard of this happening before. I can’t explain it, but it’s sooo freaky!
One of my Great Aunts once told me that one night, she went to bed right before my Great Uncle. She got into bed, then a minute later, she felt him get into bed with her. She said she turned over to give him a Goodnight kiss – but he wasn’t there. Literally 2 minutes later, he came to bed, and she experienced all the same movement she’d experienced before when she’d turned over to find he wasn’t there. I wish I had an answer to this kind of thing, it’s apparently quite a common occurence.

wow. I hope that never happens to me ever again because I get scared easily. One day I was home alone because I was sick. My parents were at work and my brother and sister were in school. I got bored so I went on the computer and it was really quiet. My dog came into the room and was wimpering so I followed to where she was going. She went to the door and I heard a cry. I opened the door and nothing was there. I lied down because I thought I was just dreaming. About a half hour later my mom woke me up and asked me, “What is that crying sound?” I started to cry and told her it happened before. We both went to the same door and she opened it and saw a doll lieing there. It’s eyes weren’t there and it looked like blood was coming from the eye holes. That was what was crying. I never opened that door since.

Hey readers! I frequently read the stories from this awesome website. However, when I was reading this story from my work place. I felt sudden loss in my energy. However, I went out for a smoke and came back in my cabbin. I was down with fever and cold. May be the A/C was too hight or may be some thing else…cheers.

It’s nothing dangerous. I’ve experienced it on several accounts. Here in Norway we call them “vardøger”. They’re not ghosts or apparitions, actually I don’t think anyone knows what they are. Premonitions would be a more appropriate term. My grandfather, grandmother, uncle and I have all experienced it and although it might seem creepy, it basically just tells of somebody’s arrival.
When my grandfather was little he was sitting in the kitchen overlooking the road, as he was been told by his mother, while she was out shopping for groceries. Suddenly he saw the bus pull up and his mother get out. He ran downstairs and outside to greet her only to see that nobody was there. He went back inside and saw that it was ten minutes ’till the bus should be arriving. He sat down and waited and ten minutes later the real bus arrived and his mother came home.
I lived with my grandmother for two years and many times, about ten or fifteen minutes before three thirty pm (when my grandmother comes home from work) I’d hear the usual door opening and slamming and my grandmother going “Hello!” as she does as always when she comes home. As I went downstairs to check though, nobody was there. Ten or fifteen minutes later I’d hear the exact same thing, all the way down to the way the door slams or the way she says “hello”. This has happened to my uncle many times as well. My grandmother has experienced the same thing with my grandfather coming home from work.
So basically it’s nothing to worry about. I’ve never heard of anyone being hurt by it. I’ve added a link if you want to read up on it. :3

Just a future echo, it can be extreme cases of deja vu (seen before). Or it can actually be where you have fallen asleep and been so aware of your surroundings that you dont realise waking up to investigate the noise you dreamt you heard. This indicates an extremely strong imagination but also means that you find it hard to notice the difference between reality and dreams =(

I have the same experience. It happened a long time ago when I was still living with my grandma and uncle. It was around 1 am, I was still surfing the net and chatting with my friends online when I heard someone came out or came in to my uncle’s room. And after awhile I heard a snore. By the way, my room is just beside my uncle’s room and my pc is situated near the wall that divides the 2 rooms. Thinking it was my uncle, I knocked on the wall so that he will stop snoring. It was around 2 or 3 am when I heard my uncle’s car. He was out the whole time. And then I realized, who was snoring in my uncle’s room?

DejaVu is mega mega annoying, especially when it happens as the original poster has explained it, it can end up being very upsetting. U recently moved into a new house and heard a massive crash from upstairs before we had moved anything in, I assumed it was the boiler falling off the wall however we didnt find a reason for the sound. a week later I heard the exactly same sound and it was my wife accidentally tipping over the wardrobe. Possibly just my imagination, but it was a tad odd.
