Last year when i was in secondary 2, we had a scout camp, and I regret going for it. The camp was held at a local scout headquarter (this was built in bushes). The camp was 3 days 2 nights. On the first day, we had lots of hard training and some games. Every night we had to sleep by 10pm. On the first night, me and some of my friends could not sleep, so we decided to talk. Then one of my friend wanted to go to the ladies so we accompanied her. We got out of bed, asked the teacher for permission and walked to the toilet. There was about 5 of us altogether. My friend went into the toilet as the 4 of us waited for her outside. We were enjoying the cool breeze as we were talking.

Suddenly one of my friend heard some sound coming from one of the direction. The sound was something like loud mouth-breathing and chewing. While 3 of us are still chatting, she went nearer to the bush to see what causes the sound. Suddently we heard her shouting for help. We quickly looked at the direction she was coming and to our horror, we saw a lady dressed in white hanging from a tree with with something bloody in her mouth looking at us with a horror smiling face. We were so scared that we ran all the way back to our bunk. We told the teacher about what we saw. We were so scared that we forgot about our friend in the toilet. We asked the teacher to accompany us to the toilet to look for her. When we got there, we saw her on the floor. We also saw some white cloth in her hand. We were so scared that we immediately left the camp the next day. We rushed our friend to the hospital. She told us that when she came out from the toilet, she didn’t see us but a lady with white dress kneeing down with her back facing my friend. She thought it was a joke, she tried to approach the lady by pulling her dress and the lady turned back with some bloody flesh in her mouth looking at her and then to her horror, she fainted.

Many years back, there was a very famous theatre located at town center. There was a girl watching a movie with her boyfriend. She then went to toilet for her usual business. After finishing her ‘business’, she washed her hands and applied lip-stick. While doing this, she saw from the mirror a woman (long hair & red blouse) coming out from one of the room. The woman was combing her hair. Once the girl finished her make-up, she went out and suddently the woman called her and said “Miss, you dropped your hair clips”.

The Chinese honor their dead out of both respect and fear. And for good reason. An unsatisfied soul could become a ghost and make life unbearable. Whether or not the Chinese truly believe in ghosts, they occupy a large part of their imagination, and the hopping ghost (with its recent star appearances on the Hong Kong movie scene) is the most popular.

What is a hopping Ghost?
Scientifically speaking, it’s an undecayed corpse whose main soul, the po, has not yet left for the other world. Now, a po on the loose in the mortal world is bad news. It turns into an evil spirit. And a po with a corpse to occupy is even worse. It becomes a hopping ghost.

What makes a hopping ghost hop?
Many things, but mostly when a homesick corpse, not wanting to be buried in an unfamiliar village, hops home, po and all. In documented cases, the hopping corpse is often accompanied by an entourage of monks, Taoist priests, and mourners. Yin shock makes ghosts hop, too. The yin, as opposed to the yang, is dark, mysterious, and usually out to make trouble. (Cats and the moon are characteristically yin.) Should a fresh corpse somehow come into direct contact with a yin sort of energy, then it reacts, often becoming charged with superhuman powers. And it hops.

How do you know when you’ve chanced upon a hopping ghost?
It’s not terribly difficult to tell. Despite the corpse’s superhuman energy, rigor mortis does set in, and the joints get stiff enough that it is forced to hop stiffly. According to some reports they have resorted to flying. As for appearances, a hopping corpse usually wears Qing Dynasty burial clothes. As these went out of fashion a hundred or so years ago, the corpses stick out like a sore thumb. And they don’t worry too much about personal hygiene either. One hopping ghost stunk so badly that one whiff killed a relative and knocked another out cold. Some hopping ghosts are uglier than others. Some have tounges that hang down to their chest or eyeballs that aren’t too firmly attached to their sockets. But all hopping ghosts have unusually long fingernails that are their most lethal weapon (especially being on the end of stiff outstretched arms). Hopping ghosts keep best in coffins or caves. They’re not much for sunbathing. In fact, the sun’s first rays are enough to stop a hopping ghost dead in its tracks.

The common misconception is that ghosts always appear as full manifestations, this is also fueled by Hollywood. Rarely have total manifestations been photographed by ghost hunters. The common way that ghosts appear on film is orbs (glowing round forms of light) Sphere’s (long forms of angular light) and Vortex (glowing forms of light looking like a tornado)and the last as Mist (looking like fog patch). The theories are that ghosts are energy and that with these are often detected as energy forms..balls of light, mist, etc…..also it is said that sometimes when they appear as this it is right before they will manifest themselves…true or not, this is usually the way that ghosts appear on film.

I went to hotel ABC (not real name) at Geylang (name of a place) with my girlfriend. We wanted to spent some sweet time together. At night around four, i heard noise coming from the toilet. I thought it was my girlfriend but when i turned over, she was beside me. She wasn’t asleep. She was looking at me. She said she’s scared. It sounded like a scratching sound like someone trying to cut through a wooden door or something.
